This one still perplexes me. I was a fan of The Powerpuff Girls because it had a range of male and female characters and social situations that were not to do with coming of age and being independent from the female perspective. For a cartoon about 3 superpowered girls and a loopy professor it was a lot easier to get into than MLP for that reason.

There will always be exceptions to the rule and fair play to Bronies. I just couldn't be one. As for finding out about MLP from 4chan....I shall say no more. A majority of the posters there using the meme have a secret fetish and froth at the mouth should anyone challenge or insinuate it.

And OP, as for your personal tastes give the show a try in private on YouTube. If you don't like it don't feel you have to watch it. You don't get any medals for watching it and it proves nothing. You like whatever you want to like.

On a side note: I really though John De Lancie (Q from Star Trek) would get me hooked on this show when he started voice acting as that dragon thing but even that couldn't persuade me to join the Brony cult.

I first discovered this term from the FB page of Sage Francis/Strange Famous Records, of all places.
I googled it and I was disturbed and amazed at the crazy stuff that popped up.
I have not watched the show.

This is what really convinced me to watch the show after seeing videos on Youtube of FiM dubbed over with Star Trek TNG/Q audio got some lols out of them. I want Hasbro to make a Discord figure they made a Derpy Hooves one although it's only a SDCC exclusive toy so why not Discord?

It isn't my thing. I've been open minded enough to watch it and I don't really enjoy it, however I can understand why somebody would.

To be honest I think it's good that people are breaking gender stereotypes and enjoying what they enjoy instead of limiting themselves

the message of the show is honest and innocent, and I don't see why people are getting so heated up about it. It's a cartoon!

Those who are getting upset about adult males watching it are likely more immature than the people they're criticising.
