Remembering names

I'm not too bad at remembering people's names. Occasionally I'll have problems, but I guess that's normal. I usually only forget a name if the person is forgettable.

Only under pressure???

Hell, what about ALL THE TIME?

I cannot remember anyone's name until I see it in writing. I have to SEE it. Hearing is no dice.

Back when I was in college, I had some trouble remembering names. When I was a freshman, one person was mad at me either for getting her name wrong or forgetting it altogether. There were some other people throughout my experience that if I hadn't seen them for a long time, I would have to ask who they were.

hmm. I usually can remember Names.

Once you tell me your name I will always remember it.

If you tell me your name, It's in one ear and out the other without hitting anythin on the way through unless it's a common name that I can remember by using smeomeone i know as a reference. If someone uses a name during a conversation, I remember it instantly. I can keep massive mental databases of information on people, except for their names.

I remember name most of the time, though some times I well forget to use their names.

It's very hard for me to remember a name unless the remembrance is constantly reinforced through frequent social interaction or use. I remember faces more easily than names, but I have trouble remembering even those! I might barely recognize someone if they dress differently than usual or something like that. So, often I don't recognize people I really do know, so it seems like I'm purposely ignoring them.

I have an easier time remembering the names of attractive women with little prompting, but even this isn't always the case.

A couple of years ago, I met a girl I really liked—in fact liked too much. The problem was that I somehow managed to forget her name and was too embarrassed to say so. I continued for some time talking to her, avoiding using her name, hoping to catch someone else saying it. I think she eventually figured out that I had forgotten her name. If this doesn't reminds you of an episode of Seinfeld, you're not a sitcom junkie! She really wasn't very happy that I didn't even know her name. Yeah, sometimes—actually very often—I botch even the best of circumstances badly.

Unfortunately, I don't fall in love very easily and haven't even met a woman I liked in the same way yet. To be completely honest, I still do kind of like her and still miss her Hmm, I drifted off for a minute or two there. Love isn't always easy; it can be quite painful..

I suck at remembering names unless I see their name written down and can visually associate it with them. Then I never forget.

But if I only hear the name and don't take the time to picture it in my mind, how it looks (which is about 99% of the time), it's gone. And only to return the next time it is said.

I still don't know my art professor's first name, which he prefers to be called, because he told us and I wasn't paying much attention and then I realized he had it written down NOWHERE on the sheets he had handed out at the beginning of the semester.

I still just begin my addresses to him as "Um..." or "Professor" if he's walking away and I have to catch his attention.

I should remember to cheat and ask another student who has a better auditory memory.

I almost never use people's names, even if I know them. I generally don't address people. The last time I actually addressed someone "by name" was, I think, when I was having a conversation with somone who said they always seemed to be forgotten, so I said something like, "I'd never forget about you, -insert incorrect name here-." I actually have done this at least twice in the past month. (Both times I did actually know the person's real name.)

But as to the original question, yes, I have a terrible time remembering names.

I forget names almost instantly, I even try saying them back in the conversation "nice to meet you, ______" and within a minute, the name slips my mind.

I have tremendous trouble with names, especially bland ones. When I am chatting to people on the internet, I try and save their name onto my buddy list and where they are from so I can at least have some memory trigger the next time I see them. In real life, I usually just call people by nicknames until their name usually sinks in, which takes awhile.
