I don't know, but I'm open with that Im a christian.
Or possibly a islam.
Though my learning and reading are still poor.
But I'm going more.
i can be, have been and still am. (went trough several in my years).
there is nothing wrong with being a christian in my book, as long as you dont try to convert me, i dont care either way (i'm the same towards any religion, even scientology).
the fundamentalist ones, however, are a bit of a problem. i have trouble taking someone seriously if they take the bible (especially creation) to be literal. i enjoy debating those christians, using their own book against them, but those are not compatable to be friends with me.
your run-off-the-mill churchgoer is no problem however.
Of course I could. It's a huge cultural myth that you cannot be friends with someone if you disagree on religion. One of my best friends is a christian, him and I probably have better conversations about religion than anyone else I know, and we're both stout on our beliefs, him being christian and me being atheist.
Having said that, it's annoying for anyone to try to force their beliefs on you, and you've mentioned you don't have the intention of doing that. Therefore, it should be a non-issue when choosing friends.

Well, I am a Christian. Being a Christian just mean that u admit that u have sinned against God and willing to rely on his Holy power to change to a better person that is pleasing to Him. It does not mean Christian are in behaviour better off than Atheist. Therefore, I also had many bad experiences hurt by Christians. But it does not mean that bible is not the truth. I certainly believe that whoever willing to admit their sin are generally a better person than the same person not willing to admit. Also, there is hope for God to change us, rather than ourselves boot strapping. Most of us know, it does not work. Although it may take my whole life to have a slight improvement, I still happy that I am a Christian. I am probably better off a believer than a non believer, honestly, because my life is very tough as an aspire. Anything to alleviate the situation is great. So far I found the Christian faith helps a lot. My friend who is an ex-Christian said may be because Christian doctrines has a lot of counselling and wisdom in it. Whatever it is, I think it helps a lot. The hymn and music in worship, helps my anxiety. It great to know that my mistakes, my weaknesses, God can change for something good and make good use of it. He want to train us to be a better person through the trials, we learn faster in trials than good life. All things work together for my good in eternity value system.

Im not a christian extremist, I dont talk about my faith to others and I dont need to, and for me, Jesus is a teacher of love and respect.
Could you be friend with a christian?
If people are more likely to have negative personal perceptions of Christianity, it's likely due to it being more likely that they've personally had a bad experience with a Christian than a member of a religious minority that they may have never met a member of before...
I don't see any inherent reason I couldn't be friends with a Christian, although it's unlikely I'd remain friends with a Christian (or member of an other religion) who felt the need to proselytize to me.

My family is Catholic but not very practicing & I went to a couple Catholic schools but I am a Secular Humanist. I have no problems being friends with Christians or any religion as long as they respect I have different beliefs like I'll respect them.

As long as the person keeps an open mind and allows you to have your own views and you treat them the same, I would be friends with Christians, atheists, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, anyone.
When I was a fairly involved Christian going to church I had a friend that was an atheist. They even asked me if I hated them and I just said, 'I never will.'
Problem is if people are narrow minded I wouldn't just ignore them either. I live with the most close minded atheists that have said some really insulting things about my faith. It's hard to stand up to them but I've dropped some little hints along the way.

If you're Christian, looking for friends, and limited by your social circumstances mostly to online socializing, you are in for a world of frustration. There is a great deal of anti-Christian sentiment online. There is a great deal of anti-Christian sentiment among people "on the spectrum".
If you are American, of from another mostly-Christian country, Christianity is "the establishment". Those predisposed to hating the establishment are going to hate Christians, even if they rarely are bothered by Christians.
I live in a very liberal, secular city, and still, among the tech-savvy here, you'd think we were living the frickin' Crusades. Christianity has no purchase whatsoever in my workplace (quite the contrary, actually--it's quite Christian-hostile), nor does it have any sway in the local fandom social circles. I haven't had any Jehova's Witnesses knock on my door in the twenty years I've lived here. I've never seen anyone preaching on a street corner. Christian influence--even a frickin' Merry Christmas--isn't tolerated even the slightest in any circles I travel, yet everyone complains how repressed they are for not being Christian.
Even the Gospels seem to have been written as opiates to free-thinking and the desire for freedom.
Its becuse you dont understand the bible. New testament does not support conquest, genocide, repression of women and minorities. Justify slavery? Jesus said every man, women, slave or not is free and one with christ.
The Bible is an interesting document, including stories about murder, incest, theft, lies, slavery, fraud, perjury, torture ... Yet Christians seem to have some form of selective blindness when it comes to those parts of the Bible. They seem to act as if those parts don't matter, and that anyone who knows about them - especially those of us who speak of them - are blasphemous creatures undeserving of love and mercy.
And THAT is why I don't have many Christian friends.
Yes, the bible have some horrible s**t in it, mostly in old testament. What you dont understand however is that we are followers of Jesus Christ, Jesus was/is very kind and a teacher of love.

I totally agree! But with that said, I also have no problem with anyone else's faith or what they choose to believe. I can be friends with folks of many different faiths as long as they aren't hurting anyone.
