I wasn't advocating you not being passionate.

If you at least pretend to listen to someone else's viewpoint, you'll go far. Just say, "I understand why you think this way....but I think that way because...stuff like that.

If you dismiss the viewpoint outright, that person won't want to talk to you.

That's Facebook. Try a forum devoted to history---even try a forum dedicated to the Northern War--who knows?

On forums it's the same, I used them - you meet people from all over the world. But I need to find somebody here, to be able to go out with like-minded people, not to spend holidays alone and so on.

Yeah...I can dig what you're saying.

Maybe there's a forum devoted to your neighborhood in your city?

There is a forum devoted to Flushing, Queens, NYC.

There are some forums for my town and county but they are small, and people there are completely opposite of me.

I'm going to visit one very conservative church nearby on sunday, and even had brief email talks with its pastor, but I'm not sure this idea will succeed. I'm not so religious, the last time I've been in church is when I was brought there by parents in the end of 1990's, and that was from the opposite denomination.

What are you politics Andreger?

Not real life but PPR and the news sections on this forum are pretty active, I have a pretty strong interest in those subjects as well and sometimes we have some interesting discussions here.
