I don't like to be around children, babies I can handle because I don't think they can judge and they are adorable, but that is a built in survival mechanism. But children that talk and run around with their grubby little hands and have tantrums. I don't like being around them or my peer group. I never know what to say to them. Like the people expect me to be all cute with the kid and nice. Its like a critique by the parent on my interaction with the kid. I honestly never want to have children because around them I have this almost overwhelming response to correct them. I know I want to correct my little brother all the time, and I imagine I would probably crush the dreams and imaginations of my kid or any kid around me.

I prefer being with kids that being with adults a lot of the time. They're more honest about the things that matter, they have little idea about what is socially acceptable and they make me smile because they're still fascinated by things around them. My favourite age group is 8-12 when they're still quite innocent but also quiet articulate.

I'm not quite sure of this one. One one hand I'm the kind of person to whom children is somethong other people have, but on the other, when I crack "nasty" jokes like the one shadexiii kicked in, my mother goes "But you seem to get along just fine with little kids". And true enough; my cousin's daughter even asks why I'm not there when she's at some family get-together I've declined from participating in.

And here's another example: On one side I seem to have a talent for explaining and conveying abstract stuff like math and science, but on the other hand I can vividly imagine myself loosing my temper in front of a rowdy, noisy group of 25 NT kids...

And all in all, I'm fairly relaxed amongst the little ones -- they seem to cause less "too-many-people-anxiety" with me, than people in general -- I guess I simply take refuge in the fact that if the kids get a bit too "bratty" for my liking, I can simply hand them off to their parents, or maybe leave the party alltogether...

I like children a lot, and the tend to like me to. I make a good climbing frame
I work with kids who have severe learning disabilities and i find it rewarding.
I do not like teenagers though, once kids reach high school they scare me somewhat.

I like to stay with children, but now I am thinking that there is a lot of time that I don't stay with them. I probably don't take care of them correctly as I permit them to do almost everything. Well, I am remembering something I read at another forum about animals and alpha males... perhaps children don't see me as alpha male...

well, it is a joke... I believe young children imagine I am a child too, some have told it and get surprised when discovered I am an adult! :D

I used to think I could deal with kids, but now I've changed my mind. Kids are annoying, they never shut the hell up, they run into things all the time, and most of them smell bad.

Kids are cool.
You can play silly games with them. And they have funny laughs.
And it's an excuse to buy really cool toys and then play with them yourself. :D

I am not that good with children, but I like them, little kids from 2-5 years old, the ones who behave, I had enjoyed the company of a few, from family and people I know, they are cute and sweet, their innocence is what I enjoy most, they are in the age that they don't judge you and haven't learn any prejudice thinking yet. I have a 3 year old nephew and he always ask me to play with him, and he loves playing with me.

I like talking to my young cousins more than I like people my own age.

I get along really well with kids. I have a 4 yo brother, and I like being with him more than with my other siblings.

Kids are cool sometimes. They're honest mostly and don't always know the right things to do in social situations, either.
But they can also have that dark side where they find that one kid that's different and tear them apart--- it's sad to see them like that because I usually identify with that odd kid out but i know there's nothing i can do or tell them to make it better ( i'm still an adult after all, what would I know? they don't always realize that i was there once.).
I tend to get along with them well, though.

I tend to get along really well with kids ages 7-12. These are the ages where they are like little adults but still enjoy games and childish stuff and are less likely to hit the teenager "cool" phase. I think I get allong better with boys than girls though because boys tend to play video games and like sports and overall share the same interests as me.

Example: Had a family party last weekend and was much less socially exhausted afterward because I spent most of the party playing video games with my sister's in-law's kids. If they weren't there, I would of had to leave the party several times to relax and re-group myself. Anyone else have similar experiences?
