Sounds like a very interesting paper--would you care to share some of the results of your research with us? I find the way the brain works is immensely interesting. Unfortunately most of the books I've come across about the brain are more concerned with the NT brain. I'd like to know more about the differences so I can better explain Aspergers to people.

ClosetAspy: Well, I'm still an undergraduate student, so I am just assimilating and analyzing research others have already completed. However, I can refer you to some of my sources, if you would like.

That would be wonderful if you could! My sister would also be interested, I think. She has a Ph.D. in psychology and her speciality is Language Acquisition in Infants. She just received a grant to continue her research. I kind of suspect she is Aspie too but I haven't said anything to her yet as I don't think she would take it well. But we can talk for hours on psychology and the brain!

When she was getting her Ph.D. she ran into some opposition because there was a member of the faculty who was very much a Noam Chomsky disciple and her initial research seemed to contradict some of Chomsky's findings. Fortunately there were others on the faculty who backed her up and she was able to continue towards her degree.

I have a feeling it is directly related since our memory is different, however I think where AS really comes in is that, fo me, I tend to form the sentences in advance, and get stuck hunting for just that one word, and won't let go of it. I think most people generally just skip around words they forget without hardly noticing.

ClosetAspy: Sorry it's taken so long to reply; I've decided to just post a thread with sources once I finish my paper (it'll be in the Science forum). I wouldn't want to give you an incomplete list, after all. My paper is due in mid-April, but if you don't want to wait that long, I can try to give a short list now.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister's difficulties, but I'm glad she made it through! Her specialty sounds terrifically interesting.

I also have trouble getting the words out, the words and idea are there, but I can't convey what I am trying to say. I will sometimes start to stammer or stutter, under stress, which only gets worse if some a**hole makes fun of my predicament, by repeating my stammer, real funny.

I forget words, or get tight. Its like the words reel inside my head but i cant say them out loud, thats why typing is so much fun. Trust me you are not alone in this, and its ok.

Yes I am also one of you there. And I am sure it is caused by my as and also for me it is mostly nouns that I forget. But also names. It is really a problem but I such get ued to it. I took this topic up with my proffesor once who also is a nurse. And he said is not a problem that if you forget what a key is named, for you can bescrive it. It is never a problem if you forget where you put the key, for you have just simpel forgett where you put it. But if you forgett what a key is use for, then you have a problem :)
