I'm near the point of giving up, too. I actually fear people's reactions now - it seems that whenever I make an attempt to be friendly, I always fail, so what's the point in even trying? It's probably a given that I'm going to screw it up.

Same here, I can't seem to keep friends either. Somehow I just end up losing touch with them, they never call, never write, and then when I do SOMEHOW reconnect, they at first don't remember me.
