difficulty talking to people online

That's pretty much the case.

I know for a lot of the time, she was busy with college. Now she's graduated, and nothing has changed.

Not a good sign, I think. I would think she is gradually slipping away and not worth the time thinking about her. Online friendships seem to have an unfortunately short shelf life (some shorter or longer than others) unless they are on Myspace/Facebook. And the friends people talk to on Myspace/Facebook are the same ones they have in real life, in their locality, anyway.

I've actually met her in person, and she's only a little over 100 miles away.

I used to have her on my Myspace, but she deleted me from hers because her parents got MySpaces, and they told her she could only have people on hers that they've met in person.

And the only reason I hear from her by e-mail is because after I month, I have to do the online equivalent of poking her with a stick.

There's nothing wrong with my social skills cause I can socialise pretty alright in RL, in fact it's easier for me to socialise in RL than online even with some NTs O.o


I feel the same way with you. That's why I usually go over my professor's office, instead of leaving a message in his/her email box. I've found that the fastest way is usually to walk in the office. Is it controversial? Cause email is created for increasing the efficiency of human communications, but in reality it became the tool that lag things away.

And my friend is still not attentive.

I didn't do anything to cause her to not want to talk to me.

And her actions often contradict what she says.

Yes there is, when you go to 'Edit Profile'. There's an option that says 'Pop Up Window on New Private Message'.

Again I feel compelled to add to what's been said in this thread, because it's crossed my mind that I'm experiencing a situation with my friend of a similar ilk to what Tim_Tex is experiencing with his. In other words it's occurred to me to check Myspace and another lesser-known social networking site I know she uses. And indeed it shows since we were last in contact, she's been active in those places on different days. Meanwhile she hasn't been in contact with me and I haven't had a chance to chat with her.

But I'm taking that on the chin. My attitude is, why should I be so bothered about her if there is evidence she isn't that bothered about me. However it's a sobering thought that even if a person has a combination of an extremely constricted, low local population base, a facial disfigurement and OCD (or the like) - still, local life obviously provides her with enough positive interaction not to need somebody like me.

I'm not complaining, just illustrating that such constricting circumstances for a person are evidently not enough for them to talk to you.
