Why's it okay for girls to act self-centred, but not guys?

I just think that men and women are self centered in different ways. Women, I think, tend to lean toward the emotionally self centered. Men, on the other hand, tend to lean toward the 'life goal' self-centered. In either case, well, everyone has an ego.

And when I say 'self centered', i think I mean that they tend to focus on those things in general, not just with themselves. You find women talking about other women's emotional issues, and men talking about other men's life goal issues. I don't think it's a matter of it being OK for either of them to be self centered over the other gender. We all have issues. That being said, I've dated and been married to and known many self centered men, and I've been friends with plenty of self centered women as well.

^Your post makes a lot of sense. I hope this doesn't come off as sexist, or whatever, but I think the reason women might come off as more self centered is the fact that they need more input from others, be it the "girls" or their boyfriend/husband. Women tend to "give" a lot of themselves as well, as they are naturally the nurturers, the carers, so it balances out.

I think it's high time this thread jumped the shark (who's seen My Fair Lady?).

I haven't noticed it. A lot of my friends get whiny, most of them are guys.

Maybe it's just my friends or region or whatever, but moody guys seem to be pretty normal around here.
