No. I use to go to school dressed as really old man. I never got rid of my NES, and I have never changed cell-phone.

Wouldn't your cell burn out eventually forcing you to buy a new one?

It is still going strong since 2002.

Impressive.

I enjoy watching the sports teams of my city so I can fit in for mainstream sports culture but other than that, I usually like very little of what the mainstream likes. Especially the movies of the mainstream.

I keep up with mainstream tech and SOME mainstream music, but lately mainstream music has gone downhill. As for anything else, no the mainstream has become too boring and too much of a hassle to keep up with.

Nope, and at the detriment of my social skills too.

I import most of my music from Japan and Western Europe, and I very rarely watch movies (one a year, if that). I do watch the occasional television program, though, but even then, it is often a sitcom from the 80s on Nick-at-Nite.

Appearance-wise, I wear whatever is cheapest at the local thrift store; the people at school say I dress in "Wal-Mart Clothes," which I guess is higher-class than their true origin. :P

I do to a point so I know what people are talking about but I mostly do my own thing.

Even before i knew i had AS, or any of my depression, anxiety, school phobia, ect... "I was that one nail that just wouldn't go into the wall" i'd rather not be in any of the groups, or clicks whatever they call them, I observe for a week or so, then i come in with knowledge of how they will react, so if something does happen i have my out, i run this route in different time spans for every situation i encounter; school, mall, neighborhood, 'parents', and any thing else. Suppose that might be why my life is a bit tough to continue on?

Yes, but at the same time I feel ashamed with myself. I must confess that I listen to Britney Spears, Rihanna, T-pain, and much more... yes, even rap... although I also listen to classical music, but solely on my own. I've never, ever told anyone that I listen to classical music. I also (occasionally, although again no one knows) watch American Idol, How I Met Your Mother, CSI, and even MTV, and yes, I discuss it with other people, which makes me fit in. I never tell others about my real interests and what I do when I'm not at school.
So, to answer the question, yes I follow pop culture but not whole-heartedly. I don't let myself be immersed in it.

Not really. I know that if you keep up with mainstream culture, it makes it far easier to have topics to talk about to other people, but it's just too troublesome for me.

I rarely listen to contemporary music (Rock/Pop), with the exception of some Electro and Trance (but then I have no idea who the artists are, I just like the doof-doof bass).

I don't follow any TV shows apart from Ugly Betty and Gossip Girl (I'm actually behind in both of them, and I'm thinking of dumping Gossip Girl because it's becoming too trashy). I'm considering following House though seeing that it's apparently medically related and I study Medicine.

I don't care about fashion at all, and I'm not aware on what's "in" or not. I don't care about what people think about my attire. My parents often tell me that I dress very sloppily and that I have to dress more "smart" when leaving the house... :?

I don't follow the craze regarding Tech gadgets, eg. I never own an Ipod or an Iphone. I used to be addicted to Facebook, but I deleted my account. I have Twitter but I barely use it.

I'm not into the video/PC - gaming scene that much anymore, I stopped at N64 and PS2.

I don't follow sport. I tried to get into watching AFL/Soccer A-league matches just to follow some of my friends, but I got bored pretty quickly.

I DO try to keep up with the latest movies though, but even then I watch them during my Mid Semester or Semester breaks. Movies and food are probably the crutches that I rely on in small talk with others.

To be honest, I never have cared much for mainstream culture. I do know about some things, but there are alot of others I don't follow. I don't like most modern TV, and alot of modern music has gone downhill. There's a radio station I listen to in the car that doesn't have one of those trashy morning shows and just plays music, mostly older rock, and some modern stuff. I can't stand the so called shock jocks.

Reality TV doesn't interest me much either, I think most of it just shows the worst qualities in people who want to get ahead not by being good or the best, but by backstabbing and sabotaging others. Not great behavior to model in my opinion. I begrudging sit though "Hell's Kitchen" because my wife constantly won't leave me alone in another room when it's on. I usually just sit in the living room surfing the net on my wireless laptop when it's on.

As for fashions, I don't care much about that either. I basically wear pull over shirts, blue jeans or slacks, basically nothing that stands out. I also get my hair cut short, less work to take care of. I really don't care what others think, I just do my own thing.

I try to balance it out as I like things that aren't mainstream but I like things that are also mainstream.

I like some things of mainstream culture.

I've always been very interested in fashion design, which helped making friends at school. I also like music, though what I like isn't always the really popular stuff. I can't watch TV or movies though, and I'm not interested in sports at all.
