I suggested the 15th because I would be in Brisbane anyway, for the Lifeline Bookfest,

I'm taking mum to Briz international airport on the 15th morning, so will be in Briz, so good time for me as well :)

I might be interested.

Depending on where/when?

Is the 15th decided?

I think I could do that.

I should be free on the 15th.

What about a cafe in South Bank as a meeting place?

I was having a look and couldn't find anything I was familiar with except Ahmet's Turkish Restaurant, 164 Grey St, South Bank.
It has some cheap entrees and a good selection of drinks... Here's the website - http://ahmets.com/

Anyone have any other ideas? I figured South Bank, since Quatermass would already be there for the Lifeline Bookfest.

If I can prevent myself from getting bored for a couple of hours, then yes. I usually am done with the Bookfest after a couple of hours. I'll probably have to scoot into the museum for a while to keep me occupied. But I don't intend to stay for long. Just long enough to say hello and show off the loot from the Bookfest. :)

I guess we'll have to see what happens with these floods re: the meet on Saturday.

How is everyone going?

Well, I haven't drowned yet, but if the Bookfest is cancelled for the 15th, I'm not coming. End of discussion.

South Bank is one of the areas currently affected by the floods and I know that yesterday all of the businesses along there were evacuated... The river isn't expected to hit its peak until tomorrow, so I'm unsure if the water will be gone by Saturday.

The other thing is that we are unable to work due to the flooding expected in the CBD (temporary staff don't get paid for non-work days)... So, as for me and my husband, I don't think we can really afford to spend money on lunch and train tickets anymore...

I don't mind if others want to go ahead with the meet anyway though.

Well, it's official. The Lifeline Bookfest has been postponed until the 22nd due to the floods. So much for me coming to this meet. And given how close this Saturday is to the floods, I doubt that it'd be a good idea to meet up anyway. Not unless swimming in mud with a side-order of dysentery is someone's idea of a good time.

Take care driving to Brisbane on Saturday melbi. I think the water is expected to stay around for a few more days yet, so there may still be some across roads.
