Or it says you have to scan your item before you put it in the bagging area, and you know that you already scanned it, so you don't know what to do and you don't want to pay for the same item twice.

Also, the security tags don't get disabled, so those stupid security alarms go off when you leave.

Same, and they block light the most than any other type of sunglass.

you know, I think something that I hate socially may actually be good for us in reverse.

Bluetooth - cell phone headsets.

I hate when people are talking and I think they are talking to me. And I answer them only to get the look of death of being so dense. (because, you know, its now perfectly acceptable to be walking around a store talking outloud to yourself- who can see those thing in their ear unless you really look...)

If we walk around with them maybe other 'socially dense' folks will accidentially talk to us and we can start a conversation about how you hate when that happens, I do it all the time too... Aspie homing beacon in the making.

Not the internet, surprisingly. Because when you meet someone from the internet, you don't half feel awkward.

I don't understand why people get so mad when you think that they are talking to you. They should realize what they look like.

I think I have to try that.

Computer and internet is probably the worst thing for social awkward people. If you aren't careful about it you just hide behind a screen, avoid all negative feelings and isolate yourself, then not know how to cope in social situations, or interact with people in real life. It's the same for neurotypical people too though. It's more an anxiety thing.

I think that's one of the best inventions so far. If I didn't have the net I would be locked in a padded room for talking to myself or I would be getting my butt kicked for trying to interact with people offline

I think internet socialising has made people lazy and also more isolated, whether they're NT or not. It's nothing compared to the real thing. Even though I make lots of friends online, I'd choose to go out and speak to people any day.

On public transport the way us Brits just stare into nothingness, deliberately avoiding eye contact with anyone, focusing on all the mysteries of life. Unless of course the train or bus breaks down. In which case even I find myself striking up a conversation with the chap next to me.

I don't know about in the UK, but all the stores I've seen here add the self-checkouts in addition to the regular cash registers, not replacing them and firing people.

I think it's probably a bit of both. In fact they usually end up having to help people anyway because they keep beeping. Wouldn't it be easier just to have a manned till in the first place rather than someone standing there? Bonkers.[/quote

I only use these now. It is embarrassing when something goes wrong and they need to come help though, and this happens alot. It does require less manpower because one person covers about six checkouts. I am not sure it is helpful to me because outside of work and direct family, cashiers are sometimes my only interactions with people. It allows me to regress. They are especially nice if you have to buy tampons or something else embarrassing like foot fungus cream :D (but I don't think that is an aspie thing!
