Mine is steam locomotives. I am very fascinated in seeing them move especially large cargo frieght locomotives but I don't know anything about the different types, companies, history, or the different railroad routs. It seems like many other locomotive fans know that and talk about that.

I have a bit of an interest in CSS3, a web designing program. It has so many possibilities, especially if it evolves further. But pretty much everyone I know doesn't have any interest in web design. I can show them if I make something, but explaining how I did it and discussing compatibility with someone I know might be like talking to a wall. I personally wouldn't call myself a geek, I just have a genuine interest in it.

Video games.

I have 1% skill in coding or and spend 3 months acting like a "pro gamer", but have played and am really good at anything related to video games starting from around 1998, with some childhood treasures here and there. I play, or must nowadays say "research", games to a point I feel for myself I have mastered the game, which means understanding the -key- mechanic to "winning" whether this means I have achieved it by spending "the grind" or not depends on if it keeps me entertained enough by "the progression". These """ definitions in my head are applicable to every game out there. As simple or broad the game may be, whether this takes "skill" or "items".

I can't talk much about video games either, because my game choices aren't mainstream. :/

I'm confused.... If you went on for 10 minutes about amusement park rides, then I don't see how you have any problem talking about it....

The title of the thread is "Interests you can't talk much about"

I love metal, but I can't talk about it. I don't know technical things and while I always remember songs after I've heard them, I can't recall that information on demand. If I listen to it again I'll remember everything about it, but if you just ask out of the blue it's like I have no idea.
Homestuck too, but that's because you can't explain it to people with just a passing interest. I could sit and talk about it for days, but no one wants to listen once they realize I'm preparing an entire lecture on the subject.

Sorry, this is kind of off topic, but what's the name of your metal band, and do you have any CD's out? I love metal, so I want to give you a listen!

Well, after that little incident, I did begin to have trouble talking about it because I realized very, very few people are interested in that type of thing.

I completely misunderstood the question you were asking. I you were asking about things which you liked, but couldn't talk about because it was inappropriate. I have never had a problem endlessly expounding on things I know nothing about. I'd be great on talk radio.

Why don't you read the original post a little more clearly, and also read the other responses so you can get a more clear idea of what this thread is about?

It's not interests you can't talk about because nobody wants to hear about it

It's interests you can't talk much about because you have LIMITED KNOWLEDGE ON THE SUBJECT! I'm pretty sure I already clarified that in an earlier post

I think art is another big one for me. I go to art school, and I love to paint, but I really don't know the names of many artists. If I see a piece I like, I will point out all the things I like and don't like about it, but I couldn't tell you a thing about the artist who did it or what "time period" he did it in. That's why I don't do so well in art history classes!

Knives and blades. Scumbag 14 year olds stealing their mothers kitchen knives because they are attempting to copy those american gang people and failing horribly have ruined the days of gentlemen carrying pocket knives for everyday tasks and now everyone is against knives because they think they are weapons of mass destruction.

I sincerely apologise, I admit I only read the title and rushed to type what i had to say out of pure need to rant. Would you like me to delete my post?

Toy trains here. People make fun of me because I love toy trains.

Yoga, I am in very Catholic and very homophobic Panama. People would think I am gay, or even a satanist, if I spoke about it.

Heavy metal, same as above, except no one would think I am gay, just satanic.

No it's alright. It seems like everyone is kinda ignoring the original post and just reading the title, so its kinda useless at this point haha

I should have named this post "Interests you haven't fully expanded on" so people don't get confused.

That would be worse, if you had used punctuation and used it correctly, it would be clearer.

Gardening, self-reliance, survival.

I've only been permitting myself to indulge this interest for about five years now. The subjects are so huge and so diverse that I have yet to acquire enough knowledge that I can even begin to feel truly comfortable speaking about it.

Too bad-- the subjects are so full of blowhards that one would think I'd fit right in.

Not to mention the fact that these interests do not seem to be socially acceptable anywhere outside the most rural areas of the country. Highly volatile.

Safer to listen than to talk.
