Same here, but I haven't played Sims 2 enough really to compare it with the original Sims. I know that in 2 there are more ways to interact with other Sims, but the actions seem to be more generalized and repetitive.

Yeah, pretty much. When I first got it about a year ago, I thought it would be much better than the original. But after about a week, I left it in some bookcase where its been collecting dust ever since. I also tried to play another game also made by Maxis, SimCity 4, but other than unleashing calamities, I found it quite boring. I feel that more and more games nowadays are more focused on graphics than on actual game play.

Sims 2 is great for about a month, and then it just gets very boring. Your Sims age in days, so if you play for like 12 hours straight (possible, trust me), all of a sudden you have a bunch of geriatrics on your hands. The house building functions are more powerful, but even with serious RAM and a dedicated graphics card, it slows down if you have the settings all on normal. I did not enjoy it enough to buy the expansion packs.

I really enjoy Civ 4, and I am saving up to get Age of Empires III. I have yet to purchase the expansion for Civ 4, but I will soon.

One of my favorite games ever is Pharaoh, and I really wish someone would port it over to the Mac platform.

Currently, though, I am saving up to buy Dreamweaver so I can make my idea of a super-cool online 24 database into reality. It is a very ambitious project, and will probably take me a very long time, but I don't care about small details like time---who needs time?

I love Command and Conquer---that was my first computer game. I haven't played it in a very long time, but I am looking to see if they have it for Mac. (I know a lot of games are PC only, but I love my Mac, and my PC is dying. And when it dies, I shall get an iMac, and if that means I must stop playing certain games, then I guess that is how it shall be. I will probably be a lot more productive, actually, without the ability to play.) :)

Yeah, I like Macs too, Microsoft kinda sucks.... What type of database is it going to be?

Oh, and about making programs for the computer, I've actually been thinking about making my own game for some time. The problem is, I don't have an advanced knowledge of Java and C++ and I don't have the kind of equipment you would need in order to make decent graphics and gameplay mechanics. I do have a couple of ideas that I wrote down on paper though that I want to turn into a reality.

I am not quite sure if database is exactly the correct term for what I want to do, but let me try and describe it.

Basically, you know how libraries and site like IMDB have online catalogues that let you seach by different parameters? That is what I want to eventually be able to do, but I want it to be 24-specific. So let's say I wanted to search for Jack Bauer, and that's all I knew. I would type Jack Bauer into a field, and pick from a drop down menu of choices (i.e. "actor" or "character," etc.) Then I would hit "enter" and everything with Jack Bauer in it would show up, with thumbnail pictures and whatnot. And I want to be able to have people search just for pictures, or a combination of news articles and pictures and profiles, etc.

And in addition to that, I also want people to be able to search for information that is season/episode/character specific, like my stats I am making on kill counts/character, etc.

And I want it to look awesome.

Does that make sense?

Oh cool.. some like minded Aspies !

I pretty much spend most of my time playing Guild Wars and my Xbox 360 (I play Oblivion and GoW on it). I want to play WoW again but I dunno how to pay for the subscription since it is pretty damn expensive..

I also like RTS's... like Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne and Warhammer (forgot what number goes here): Dawn of War. I used to play Civilization II ALOT on my now defunct Windows 3.1 haha

I used to play The Sims 2 a lot but I find it very boring now.

@dexkaden

Heh, I loved playing the original C&C. I would get pissed off playing this one level when you had to run a bunch of Infantry and APC through a bunch of NOD guys and get to the finish point. I would play it killing everything.. man, that was so dumb.

Yeah, thats a database alright. Pretty much, a database is a medium that has a huge number of items stored for reference purposes.

Windows 3.1?! Didn't paleontologists just find that next to some T-Rex fossil they dug up?

Yeah, but it's so fun. I would make my own maps, and leave only a single entry into my camp. Then I would amass hundreds of troops and attack the enemies. I set it up to play on the family network, and my siblings would be unsuspectingly puttering around their fort while I was planning a massive invasion. Then out of nowhere they would be attacked by swarms of infantry and annihilated. It was fun. :)

Hey, that's all I have right now, is a plan and a lot of information entered into a spread sheet. Actually, I am really irritated at my PC right now since it somehow LOST my Season 1-3 data. I mean, that was a lot of data entry! And while I don't necessarily mind going back and compiling it all again, I also have other stuff I could be doing, too. (And I am sure it is MY fault I lost the data, but I enjoy a good scapegoat every now and then, and computers just present themselves as easy targets.)

Yeah, the equipment is kind of a bummer since it's so expensive. I guess you could take a class or two at university and use their equipment. And the language proficiency can be achieved. What I've found is that the more time I spend focusing on something, the quicker I become fluent. (That sounds so obvious, doesn't it?) I came across a bunch of Game Programming For Dummies type books at Barnes and Noble today while searching for a DreamWeaver manual. So the stuff is out there.

Yeah, swarm tactics are fun. I especially like amassing a bunch of uber-units together and then just stomping on all of my opponents.

Yeah, I agree. Right now, I'm reading Java for Dummies to learn how to program, but I wish I had equipment to do it properly though. The type of game I want to make is some sort of online RPG. But, I want it to be a game that redefines the RPG genre. So far in my plans, I want it to be a truly Player vs Player game, but have some safe guards so that some jerk doesn't stamp the newbies out.

Yeah, that sounds cool. I am not a gamer, so I can appreciate a controlled gaming environment where everyone at least has a chance of winning. I mean, it's no fun to play a first person shooter game against someone with mad game skills because--at least with me, anyway--then I lose ALL THE TIME.

Yeah, especially when they decide to wait for you. Thats when I start complaining to the server hosts.
