How can a NT make eye contact more comfortable for an AS?

Ive just realized something really weird, I was talking online to a friend the other day and (btw they are NT) they were telling me about how lately (they are depressed) since they have been depressed that they have found it difficult in social situations, and they CANNOT make eye contact, Which is really weird cuz when I first met them they were one of the most bubbly and confident people I knew, now she has the same social awkwardness commonly experienced by those with AS.
Well share opinions if you want, I just thought it was a little odd

It's not painful or uncomfortable in any physical sense. But in terms of protracted staring at me, yes it is very uncomfortable for the very same reason you mentioned above. It feels like someone is trying to stare into my soul or my mind.

Funny, some people tell me that when I look them in their eyes.
