I take a shower every morning. Some days, if it's really hot out and I come home all hot and sweaty, I'll take a second one that's more of a "rinsing off" than a real shower. Even on days where I stay home and don't leave my apartment (which is most Sundays), I'll take a shower.

Tomamil made reference to one of Dr. Tony Attwood's books. In Attwood's The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome, he states that in his experience, the most common cause for an adult with AS to lose their job is an issue regarding personal hygiene.

I shower every morning and clean my teeth twice a day - is there anything to worry about?

As for me, I bathe once a week.
More commendably, perhaps, I wash under my arms and wash my feet
once a day in the morning--more often than not. On the other hand,
it's important for me to know that I am owning this bit of personal hygiene;
nothing encourages me not to wash up quite like being told that I must
wash up. I wonder if that kind of experience affects any of you?

When i went to Crystal River High for a while there was a kid in my Math Class who nevershowered. [It was a ESE Classroom.] He wore a shirt 5 weeks in a row. The shirt was originally pink but then turned brown. He was so not a person to be around because of his bad attitude and smell. [ He called a girl in my class a slut and threatened to kill everbody.] Strange to say he wasn`t an aspie and he was actually
a kid from one of the richer familys in citrus county. [ His brother bathes every day
and weres WASHED CLOTHES!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

This thread reminds me of one of my friends who didn't shower "on principle" more than once a week, in solidarity with the poor, since most of the world does not have such luxuries.

His principles stunk a little.

He has the luxuries he just doesn`t use them. I know all about poor people also.
Citrus County Florida is full of them besides the people who live in the Deed- restructed
communities like Pine Ridge and Sugarmill Woods.

Not showering is not one of these harmless behaviors. Just as NTs have no right to demand you conform to their expectations, you have no right to force them to inhale your BO and coffee breath all day long.

Brush and shower daily. Failing to do so is not a harmless eccentricity. It is rude.

I never really bath or brush for cosmetic reason. I do it for sensory reason because I hate the feel of sticky skin or dirty teeth. As for as those with AS who do not have a sensory problem with it and do not want to bath or brush often more power to them.

Where are all you aspie coming from that have so much intimate contact with people that they smell you anyway? :) I live a very isolated life. I guess alot person with mild AS that can pass for NT like to give addvice to the aspies masses.

Normally I shower every other day at most. My skin barely secretes any oil at all. I can't stand the feeling of moisturizing body wash, so icky. If I showered every day my skin gets dry and flaky and even cracks. In the winter I get real dry. In the summer I wash my armpits and such to prevent me getting smelly.
For those that don't like the feeling of water every day try Body Mint. It is a all natural pill that you take that helps reduce any funk you make from sweating. Combined with my normal body care it helped me stay smelling fresh last summer.

I'm going to go slightly off-topic, but I want to post this *somewhere*.

One of my co-workers this afternoon was looking at some booklet or whatever featuring some cosmetics products. And she mentioned that they have "mosquito soap". I replied, deadpan, "You have got to be kidding."

She replied, "No, really, it's..." (pause as she realizes who she's talking to) "The soap is for YOU, not the mosquitoes!" :D

(She knows me too well. Apparently this is soap with insect repellent in it. Yecch.)

Some of us had jobs were we were expected to get dirty and sweaty. There was no AC
in the long hot humid summer of Texas. The boss , coworkers and customers cared less how you smelled they wanted the job done. I've not worked in 3 years but I worked so many years full time at good pay I have saved enough that I do not need to work for many years.

Hmm, I didn't take a shower yesterday or today. Hy hair is greasy and my armpits stink, and I think I have a whole bunch of new pimples poking through my skin on my back. I popped a big pimple on my chest this morning while I was in bed, I was too lazy to clean up the pus so I just rubbed it in my skin. Also I have been farting a lot lately, so my buttcrack feels greasy, when I walk my buttcheeks slide together without much friction.

You got me all hot.

I only shower whenever i have to leave the house. If i'm gonna be staying at home all day and not going anywhere then i don't see the point in showering

When I was younger I had problems in this department but now I shower everyday. Now, I can't stand the way my hair and skin feels when I haven't bathed. Since I am sensitive to smells, I love to use clean, fresh scents in the shower - it's like aromatherapy for me.

I still have to remind myself to brush my teeth though

I'm sick of the stereotyping!! :x I do NOT speak in a monotone, I CAN make eye contact and my socks ALWAYS match. I bathe every other day because too much of it dries my hair out and strips the oils and good bacteria from my skin. But going for over two days makes me feel like a disgusting slob even if I don't really get smelly and dirty.
