Constantly! I try to do it only when it's just me around, but I know that roommates and boyfriends have caught me here and there. Especially in the car too, because no one can hear me. If I'm really upset or extremely focused, my mental mono/dialogue will start escaping through my mouth in public, until I catch myself...sometimes I think I should just start wearing a non-functional Bluetooth, so people will assume my comments are directed at that, rather than myself.

Also, when I need to be organized (I was a waitress in the past, and I'm a nurse now) and do some extreme multi-tasking, I chatter lists to myself, but that's pretty well-accepted in both fields.

My mother always commented on how I had loud and long conversations while in the bathroom. My brother always claimed to hear more than one voice ;)

Seriously, though, I'm the smartest person I know so it only makes sense. Unfortuantly, since I'm so smart, I tend to confuse myself.

how did I know I wasn't the only one? :)

I've talked to myself out loud as well as in a whisper, for most of my life. I used to talk in different accents and made up different characters (imaginary friends). By the time I was 14-15 I knew this was socially unacceptable when some people from my school, much to my chagrin, started to tell people that I pace back and force and talk out loud when no one else is around. I did this for years outside my house as I never had (or really wanted) friends.

Now I still pace around inside the room I live in and talk to myself in a quiet whisper, sometimes I accidentally raise my voice  I imagine I'm talking to people that I know in real life and they sort of become my audience, it's sort of embarrassing but I don't let it bother me so much anymore. I bet a lot of people do it and just never think to mention it.

I talk to myself, and I talk to animals and plants and non-living objects.

I often do, and I tend to repeat funny quotes or excerpts I've heard with a certain pitch of voice that I like.

i talk to myself, but its not verbal. I'll lip the the words, but not actually produce sound. So if I'm having a discussion with myself about how i didn't agree with the TV show i just watched, i would think person a and lip person b. Its rather confusing. Think talking to yourself minus the actual sound.

For some reason as of late my sister keeps catching me doing it. I usually don't realize I'm doing it and she'll just ask if I'm talking to myself. she cool about it.

I do. A lot. I answer, I mock, I go into depth with myself. I think maybe it's just the need to vocalize, and being the recluse that I am well...no one else is around to talk to heh. I'll go back and forth between speaking out loud and thinking inside my head. As a matter of fact, vocalizing my thoughts to myself really helps me think...

Which is when I'm mostly doing it, when I'm analyzing something. Anyone else with this same habit?

All the time, especially when biking or walking somewhere.

I talk to myself all the time. While I'm driving, watching TV, playing a video game, doing homework, and all other times that escape me at the moment.
