I am super freaking cool, but no one cares.

There's no right or wrong answer of how to be cool. Coolness comes naturally. And Aspies are very cool indeed. They are abled-bodied, independent, look no differently to anyone else, and aren't stupid - can read and write and count. So Aspies aren't as ''different'' as NTs say.

In fact, Aspies are NTs. They are normal. They just find a few things difficult, that's all. But doesn't anyone?

Coolness is not so much an aspect of how you feel about yourself but rather how others perceive you. As such, Aspies ARE deficient because of their inability to read and send the right social cues intuitively.

Of course you can. Asperger's is only a label and does not define me.

It may not define you as an individual but it does determine many of your personality and behavioral traits.

I'd rather be dead than cool.

I think that I'm a pretty cool person, just by being myself. No frills - no gimmicks. 8)

You definitely can; I've managed it pretty well. Last Friday I passed by one of our starting offensive linemen in the management building, and to my surprise he stuck out his hand and said "what's up, man?" The last time I had hung out with him was a year and a half ago, and apparently I made enough of an impression for him to remember me and want to talk to me.

He and I and the other people in the room were all taking shots, and I found a bag of fun-sized Twix bars. I absent-mindedly started eating them, and I got through eighteen before anyone (including myself) noticed. He thought this was hilarious, and he was pretty impressed that I could handle as many shots as I did (not that many, he just had low expectations).

This guy is 6'6 and 300 pounds of muscle, so it makes me feel awesome just to have him know me.
