Glad to hear it went well! I've got some ideas for other meetups, how about a picnic in the Carlton Gardens? The museum is there, and it's free if you've got a concession card. Otherwise, Melbourne has a near endless supply of amazing cafes and restaurants I've been meaning to check out if you're keen! I'm still up for going to the aquarium, too.

Damn, it's been a while since I've checked wrongplanet forums...will try to go to some meetups but I just need to sort out my hectic schedules and routines again after just getting out of hospital :-)

Mini Golf
Ten Pin Bowling
Aquarium
Carlton Gardens / Museum
City Cafe/Restaurant
Bush-walking (e.g. Dandenongs)

There, half of 2013 is organised already :P

If people like the idea of bush-walking, that's probably better in the earlier part of the year for good weather. Same with Carlton Gardens. The others could be any time. I reckon we should go with "the X Saturday of every month", i.e. first, second, third... I don't care which. If nobody can come to one we can change it around, otherwise whoever can make it can come.

Sound good? Anyone have a preference for which Saturday? ASSN meetings are on the third Thursday, so the third Saturday might be a bit too much aspie-goodness in a short period of time? :D The first Saturday might spread it out nicely.

Bush-walking is a good idea - I'm totally up for that. :) Don't really mind which week of the month it is, so first Saturday is as good as any for me.

5th of Jan penciled in. I'm OK with any of the things you listed, yellowtamarin.

Well I think the zoo was my idea, so I'm hanging back to let someone else pick this one :) I'd probably give bowling a miss but don't let that stop you from doing it. Happy with anything else, and any time.

ASSN is doing a picnic on the 30th of this month in St Kilda East, but I don't see any reason why I can't attend 2 picnics within a week.

Haha we don't have to do it if that's the case, just a suggestion!

What's this ASSN everyone keeps talking about?

http://www.assnvic.org.au/as-adults/

They do monthly meetings with a topic and anyone can contribute if they wish. There's time to socialize before and after the meeting. There are also the occasional social outings run by the same people, like the one later this month. You don't have to be a member to attend the meetings or the social meet-ups. The meetings are in Blackburn though so for some people that's a bit far.

I don't think it's a problem to have 2 picnics in a week. If other people from this thread would rather do something else or are fine with a picnic, please speak up and we can see what the most popular thing is :)

Man, you have no idea how long I've been trying to find an Asperger's group that caters to adults, this is fantastic. Where are the social events listed, though? I can't find that picnic you mentioned on the calendar.

What do you mean by bring munchies? Is that snacks, or a late lunch? Do we eat first? More info needed for aspie audience!

You need to be on the mailing list of the group convener (Colin), they don't normally put up the social events on the website. So you'll need to get on the mailing list or ask someone who is to pass on the details. I'm sure they wouldn't mind if people who haven't been to an ASSN meeting come along.

@yellowtamarin If we're aiming to get there at 1pm maybe we should make it lunch. I can supply a few fold-out chairs but probably not enough for everyone.
