Does anyone else have problems communicating?

Basicly, at least 80% (very LOW estimate) of what I communicate is misconstrued by whoever is reading or hearing what I have to say.

Does this have to do with semantics or pragmatics?

Any hints on what to do? It causes me a great deal of internal pain and frustration.

My problem is people tend to trust my 'body language' and the inflection of my voice -over- the actual words coming out of my mouth. It leads to all sorts of miscommunication.

Thank you guys for answering..
a coworker put it nicely when he was reading an essay of mine that I need to turn in this week for an online class he said:

"I know what you want to say, and what you are trying to say, it is just that you aren't saying it."

I think some of this is theory of Mind crap, like I am communicating taking for granted that I think the other person knows what I am talking about.
It is just extremely hard to slow down the brain and allow myself to think before I speak.

Practice makes perfect. Trial and error. Blah blah blah.

Have more people read things like your essays and learn from their input.

I find I misunderstand people more than they misunderstand me. Of course, I don't talk much to begin with.

With all my close friends, they know I prefer them to be honest with me. If they don't understand what I'm saying they usually just let me know, and I have to think of how to rephrase it. You have to keep in mind the other person can not be in your head knowing what's going on : ).

Have people point out the information you seem to be missing. I have a friend who tends to start telling stories in the middle rather than from the beginning, (I do that sometimes too). We end up piecing together what he's saying with back and forth question-and answers a lot, heh.
