This evening, a neighbor invited me to a choir concert at her church which was wonderful, and that neighbor is nice. However, I got picked up really early because she sings in the choir to rehearse. Meanwhile, I went to read in the church library, and a few women happened to talk about a subject that interested me. In this case, it was an opera which I wanted to see and liked the morals. As a matter of fact, these people were opera singers, so I wanted to meet them. However, when it came to talking to them about my parts of the opera, their noses went up in the air.

I mean, I felt so out of place and I felt worthless because they made me feel small and look like an idiot. In fact, I felt like one for even opening my mouth at all.

So, when I tried to compliment on their singing, one of them bragged about herself and walked away with her nose in the air. I said, "Wonderful voice." She then said, "I had a wonderful teacher." I mean, what's wrong with me?

Maybe they were too busy basking in their own importance to notice that they had made you feel bad? It's a shame, anyway.

I think so too but I didn't feel right attending church there. At least my neighbor was really nice and so was another girl my age with her son.

Maybe they were intimidated by you.

I once had a similar experience with some artistic snobs. You did nothing wrong!

I would might have to agree with that but it wasn't like I was talking about other topics. I was trying to engage in the conversation, and they pushed me out as if they were not interested in me. However, I could have come on too strong, but then again, they were full of themselves and thought they were all it. I mean, they acted as if we were at the Atlanta Symphony it was so bad.

They sound like really nasty, snooty people who were just trying to score on their own egos by making you feel bad. :( You didn't do anything wrong.

I was looking at attending church there since I moved into a new area. However, I didn't right being in an atmosphere like that. I had actually gone to a few other churches where people acted like that. I just didn't feel right about attending there, like I do with my old church because the people there are accepting and very open.
