Last week, I went an e-mail to a couple of guy friends in my area who both have sleep disorders. One of them drives and is on the spectrum while having insomnia issues. He often complains about not being able to attend certain things due to the sleep schedule and often says that it's too dangerous to drive. So, I suggested the paratransitfor him. However, he sent me an e-mail saying, "I don't think I would qualify due to having a working vehicle and a license. Now if I did qualify, it would be ethical for me to take it."

He sent me this on Sunday and I tried not to snap but it started to bother me as time when on so I sent him an e-mail. I mentioned that it didn't give him the right to turn his nose in the air and that I qualify for paratransit and depend on it. I also said that he wouldn't find it ethical if he did have to depend on it and it would make him thankful.

Did I do the right thing in telling him how I felt?

Maybe I've misunderstood, but it seems as though he was saying that he was declining that option as he didn't think he qualified for it. However, he said if he did qualify, then he would take it. He wasn't saying that it was something he thought he was too good for, or that it was a bad thing, but that he was trying to be morally correct, and not to take advantage of something he wasn't entitled to.

Have I missed something?

Well, he says things like this all the time and it drives myself and his other peers through the roof. I mean, he always acts like he's too good for any of his friends, any thing the thinks is below him such as taking the bus to to an event and will snub anything that you suggest. I feel like he's very stuck up and he acts like he's all that because he went to Georgia Tech and got a mechanical engineering degree but doesn't have a job, he's not in school. He's also a momma's boy and still clings to her, even while living on his own about everything. So, I bet you can see why I got angry with him in the e-mail.

I can't see what's going wrong here. Unless I'm misunderstanding, he's just saying that it would be ethical for him to take the paratransit if he can because otherwise he might not be able to attend things. I don't see anything snobbish with that.

I understand your point exactly and I understand his. However, the way that he sent the e-mail had a very anal response to him that just made me mad. He seriously hates driving, has sleep disorders that prevents him from driving, yet he doesn't want to anything to better himself.

I will be blunt with you: I think you're dealing with a douchebag.

Just think about it: no job, lives with mom and dad, thinks highly of himself, and doesn't wants to do s**t about his issues. I wouldn't like to meet any guy like that.

He didn't say anything rude at all :? Ok, his mannerism is a little weird, but why take it so personally?
