A lot people on the spectrum have raised the obvious issues about difficulties about social interaction at work or in further ed' (or even in informal social situations). I just wondered whether anyone on WP has benefited from any gap years or travelling abroad. has this taken the pressure off "fitting in" and instead let people use their other practical skills to do something worthwhile and fulfilling.

would like to know what some people's experience has been of these sorts of projects.

I'm kind of thinkig of travelling somewhere next year as i'm fed up of being lonely in the London suburbs. my main problem is figuring out just what to choose from (the choice is huge expecially in this age of the www).

would really appreciate some advice

Been there, done that. No regrets :)

My gap year turned into 4.5 years. And the few people who knew me was very worried i was wasting my life away. But i knew better. The last of those years especially, was the happiest time of my life.

its good to hear you find your year was succesful. thanks by the way!: i think i did need confiromation that i was making right decision

its interesting that you mentioned other people's criticism about your choice of living. i did get a lot of jusdgement as well from old school friends (not about gap years but switching courses): I suppose its just one of the "un-perks" of living amongst too many middle class citizens in south england.

which plces did you go to?
