i met up with a girl for coffee and she had... friends with her. wasn't prepared for that. we were in the coffee shop (which was really loud) and i just sat there and lightly rocked and bobbed my head the whole time while she and her friends talked. i bet they thought i was a complete weirdo
does anyone else do this? how does it come off to non autistic people?

If you see her again, just say you are susceptible to panic attacks, and the presence of your friends in a loud area made you uncomfortable (wouldnt be lying since loud public areas can put us in a panic).

I think this has happened to me multiple times. I think that the people who are chatting hardly even notice you rocking and bobbing. If they do, they probably just think that you're shy and eccentric. I'm sure they don't think you're weird.
