Nowadays I simply hide the posts I am not interested in from my news feed.

If I haven't been communicating with someone for a while on Facebook and I was never that close to them anyway, I just unfriend them.

If you google search your name, many times if you've had a facebook or similar networking sites your past and present profile pictures will pop up.
