I See a Need for Social Groups for Teens--thoughts please!
Hi Everyone!
I'm a speech pathologist who has worked with people with Asperger's (and all ASDs) for many years, and see a huge gap in availability of groups focused on social skills training geared toward practical matters like getting and keeping a job/internship, social skills in the workplace, and other teen/young adult specific topics. ALSO, I see a paucity of information going out to people with a diagnosis regarding the positive aspects of Asperger's, which I think is important to acknowledge and capitalize on, and is sometimes overlooked by neurotypicals, particularly by professionals working with people with Asperger's. Comments? What would be the most helpful topics to cover in a group (I am researching possibly starting one in my community). Any thoughts you have are most helpful!
Thank you!
