I recently sent an e-mail to N.A.S

Please could you provide further information on the groups, as outlined in the website page
Autism.org.uk/ directory, you being the contact name.
I am an adult with Aspergers Syndrome and the C.P.N, suggested I should start friendships, as I currently live alone.
I am interested in finding out about ASD groups in my area, that I could join, could you please advise me on the best way forward to achieve this.

N.A.S replied
Thank you very much for your interest in the group . At the moment the present group is full and we are not taking on more members, but I will let you know as soon as vacancies occur

Anyone think i did some thing wrong, if so what, are they telling me they do not want me in their group? what do you think i should do, write back and thank them, i'm no longer interested. Find an other group? any suggestions?

You've done nothing wrong, the group is just full at the moment - granted I'd not have expected that to happen, but I suppose they have limited resources and have to do what's best for current group members by keeping the group at it's current size - like they say they will let you know when there are vacancies, they do seem good at getting back to you at NAS and if they didn't want you in the group they'd not have offered to contact you once things free-up.

ou might want to send a message back asking if there are any other groups in the area - it would likely require you to travel further, or if you want more information on the local group in the mean time to know whether or not it's something you want to join-in on. Just say thank you for letting you know, but ask for more information just to see if it's something you want to pursue in the future.

I'm a bit paranoid right now - I have applied for a NAS group, the person who arranges things told me they meet the first Wednesday of every month, but I heard nothing from them this month...hopefully I will next month though.

I think I'm going to apply through NAS in Manchester but I'm scared that any group meeting will clash as I'm only truly free on Mondays

Sounds like a copy and paste template reply. Try calling them on the phone for better results
