Snobby Comment?

I normally attend church on Sundays and attend a young adult Sunday school class and really enjoy it. However, I had been out for two weeks because of getting a bad cold and not feeling like being miserable infront of gobs of people. So, when I went back, my Sunday school teacher was sitting down, and I went up to mingle. There was mentioning that I was sick for two weeks in a row, and he responded back with a remark that said, "Well I appreciate you for not coming here and spreading your germs." As a person on the spectrum, I was taken back at the comments as being rather sarcastic and snotty. However, I do read things the wrong way. How do you view that comment?

I would just take it on face value, and not take offense. A lot of people go out in public when they are sick, and make everybody else sick too. It is good when someone is considerate enough not to infect others.

Depends on tone and inflection and face and body language. Without context, it could go either way.

I think, if in doubt assume the best.

I wouldn't read anything into that. I actually do appreciate people not coming around me when they're sick, its a rude, thoughtless thing to do, to risk other peoples' health.

That's a pretty common remark that people make and it isn't meant to demean your absence at all. The person saying it is always just trying to be witty.

I think it was well-meant. If there's anything I can't stand, it's somebody who shows up (when they don't have to) all sick and germy and sneezing and coughing, and then I catch it. May heaven rain blessings on those who stay home when they're sick!

You are probably trying to attribute meaning to something that isn't there. Take the statement at face value and it makes sense.
