Hi,

I'm organizing a party at home with aquaintances I would like to know better (I purposedly don't do it with real friends to test whether it will work with a bigger party for my 18th birthday and try to make those aquaintances friends).

I only invite people I feel I can trust. (If I don't get a good feeling inviting them I don't)

The alcohol will be on my cost... I see it as an investment on friendship.

Any advice/tips? I try to invite people who know eachother so they feel more comfortable. Largest party I have thrown so far is with 11 people, this one will be with roughly 20-30. Just to be sure I will hide valuables and make valuable stuff sheltered so they can't break it if they get too drunk ;)

'party host mode' for me consist(ed) of pouring lots of shots and shouting 'we're gonna get f****n wasted!' then later rubbing backs and bringing water to anyone who ended up crouched over the toilet...

no wonder that is past tense..

Do the people who are coming generally know one another? If most of the people coming to the party know each other, then your job is easy--just set up the environment and they'll have fun hanging out together. However, if nobody knows anybody else, you may want to take a more active approach in creating opportunities for people to meet one another and mix and mingle. Consider organizing a game or something that would get people involved--or just be active in walking around the party and introducing people to one another.

Currently there are 8 people coming, you could actually see them as 4 pairs of good pals of each other coming.. I don't think they pairs of friends know eachother (well). I am the connecting element. They're all boys though, there is chance that 1 girl is coming, but I think she will be feeling uncomfortable because she's on her own.
