Knowing what touches my buttons
Like most of you in here, I have Asperger's Syndrome and like most of you in here, I live independently, go to school, and also hope to achieve getting a normal career. However, I have a problem with talking and I like to discuss my problems with others. In one particular case this evening, I was on my way home from a function for adults with ASDs and happened to ride in a car with a mother of another client who attends. I happened to mention that I was working a long ways away in a job where I had a work program with a negative job coach. However, she happened to be on herself and appeared to be very knowledgeable. I then told her about the nature of this person and how she wasn't helping me and that she had called me names. So, she mentioned that I needed a job coach to keep my job because her soon needed one. Yet, he has a more severe form of Asperger's Syndrome. She also mentioned that I needed to have an advocate stand up for me so that they can get this job coach fired.
However, I believe that I can advocate for myself.
