hi everyone-

im planning to join an "adult asperger's socializing group", for those on the higher end of the spectrum. not a 'support group'.... a socializing group. it's time for me to meet people on my wavelength :) structured group settings are my favorite social environment, and i want to make sure i don't screw this up somehow.

if i show too much of my true self early on, i might put others off... because im pretty sure i have that effect on people sometimes. :( those who know me know that i have a guarded sense of self, due to the past ... and present. im rather contradicted as well, and sometimes my humor can be a bit much. could i get a little advice? i know this is a hard question, but i thought id throw it out there anyway.

thank you in advance

i dont think you should have to worry too much about putting others off. Its a socializing group for autistics after all, doesnt mean they will be accepting of everything. But it should provide some room for awkardness most of them should be used to it.

this sounds like a really good idea

to the OP, where are you based?
i'm trying to see if anything couldn't be set up like that in london (a lot of aspies seem to be scared of getting the tube though which is a pretty huge impediment to meeting up)
