popular girl in school is being nice- what to make of it?
Hey- i get bullied all the time and don't have many friends in school. One day one of the most popular girls in school fainted in the corridor and without really thinking about it i carried her to the school nurse (worried she was seriously ill)
Since then she keeps smiling and talking to me and making a point of sitting with me and stuff sometimes when no one else well. I guess she's grateful but because i'm autistic i had a hard time working out when people are making fun of me or sincere. This girl isn't known for being mean but a lot of her group are - and other people in the school keep nastily telling me that it's ridiculous someone like that would want to speak to me and that this is just a way of making fun of me. Not sure what to believe!
Tell her that you have no money to take her on a date. If she's still interested after that, then she either likes you or she doesn't believe you.

She definitely seems to appreciate you as a person. I'm sure that was one of the kindest things anyone has done for her. Who knows, maybe those mean friends of hers are mean to her as well, and she could use a kind person around. Be friends with her, and don't put up a barrier, just because she is popular or has that group of friends. Nice going!
Girls can be friends with boys; it doesn't have to be about dating. In fact, I would assume that it is not. I would assume that she is simply grateful for his kindness to her and, thus, is returning it. On such things true friendships are built.
If dating gets brought into it, then I would have to get more information to know what her likely motivations are.
When I've driven on field trips and stuff, I've noticed that even though my son is quirky and doesn't date, the girls at school are very accepting of and friendly with him. He's a decent person. Even teenage girls, depending on their personality, are capable of responding positively to that.

Sometimes people are popular because they truly are decent people. The incident brought you into her world, and it makes sense for her to be friendly with you. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Kindness often does get returned with kindness. As long as this is just a casual acquaintance/light friendship, I would take it as being what it seems to be.

First off you have to go with your gut feeling but I would do my part to be polite. Just don't tell her any of your personal information Just be careful if she appeared to ignore you before. You have that right to protect yourself as well.
