Girls Always Ignore Me
Girls ignore me so much. Facebook messages, texts, and in person they think I'm weird. I am 19 years old and this has been going on all my life. It's even harder because I'm black and I am expected to act cool and gangsta and stuff. People tell me I'm handsome all the time. My mom's bfs daughters came to visit and they told me I wasn't weird and the oldest one who is 25 told my mom that she liked me and she would rub her hand all over my chest and face. I am going out to lunch with one of my old teachers who is 35 years old, i don't know if she likes me but it's a social outing and I don't get many. My mom's bf's daughter is black and that teacher i white. I am not really attracted to black girls but it seems like they are the only girls who don't think I'm weird, unless they are light-skinned. My friend told me that I should talk to more black girls and the reason they are nicer to me is because I have more in common with them as opposed to mexican, white, and other girls. He is asian and he says he gets along better with asian girls. He is nerdy and has poor communication skills with women as well.
It's like when I talk to the girls I'm attracted to they ignore me. But the black ones are usually nicer to me and don't ignore me and the older ones are nicer too.
why is this?
I'm white, and while I do have black and biracial family members, I still only have an outsiders point of view of certain aspects of African American culture (I'm assuming you are American as you mentioned Mexicans).
My perception is that of caucasian, latino, and African Americans, caucasians are the most socially reserved and African Americans are the least socially reserved. When I attempt to great people on the street with a brief acknowledgment it has been my observation that caucasian men generally ignore me, latino men tend to stare but not say anything, and African American men almost always smile and say hello. So perhaps African American culture is just more socially engaging in general. I think that you are not into the gangsta thug culture (which is only a sub-culture of African American culture, and is no longer exclusive to it), would actually be appealing to many African American women because a lot of them want a down to Earth, responsible man who doesn't have that gansgta thug image. My community was an upper middle class community and none of the African American families subscribed to gangsta culture, nor do the African Americans in my family, so perhaps it's more of an issue of location.
I have a multi-racial background, as well, and my "luck with the ladies" (of any race - I'm not picky) did not improve until I got a job, bought a car, started running and working out, taking at least one shower each day, shaved, flossed, brushed, combed my hair, and wore something other than ratty old blue jeans and a sweat-stained stained tee-shirt all the time.
I think that your situation has less to do with your racial make-up than with that racial chip on your shoulder.
