Communicating for aspies: hyperactive talking?
I, like I suppose many of you do, find it incredibly difficult to realize how I act in public, how I carry myself and how I talk to other people. This keeps me from noticing I start to talk really fast, louder and more when I get excited, frustrated or when I receive a lot of stimuli (many people talking, people interrupting each other, etc.). It has a lot to do with never being able to find the right words to describe how I feel about something, which make me talk endlessly in search for what to say. It makes me feel inadequate and ashamed because I often come across as 'crazy' or 'weird'.
Do any of you have any good tips, books, websites or anything that can help me cope with this? I would like to take my time to think about what I should say, instead of blabber on until I find the right word (which, of course, never comes).
Anything you come up with is much appreciated. Thank you!
