One (sort-of) "rule" I found for approaching people. (I guess this is relevant to love and dating too)

If they are alone (and not occupied), approach them. You aren't interrupting them on anything.

If there is a group of people, approach them. That's not interrupting. There can be side conversations. Also, you don't need to connect with everybody, just 1-2 people even. Its flexible, who talks to who can change.

But if one person is alone with another person, I'd be more cautious. They are there to talk to each other, and they are probably sharing more private things than they would in a group dynamic. If you go in, you will interrupt them. If it's a guy and a girl, don't be a cockblock.

Those are good. I used to always think I was or would be interrupting people, but later (much, much later :roll:) realized that people generally like being engaged with and that my initial assumption was wrong.
