I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

When has been the happiest, most carefree time in your life?
I mean not childhood, but like "basically" adult-like happiness, confident or whatever.
Like 15-17+?

Like from around that age onwards, what has been your happiest time?

Older now and yet I fear
My darkest days will soon be near
Witness as I tell you this
There were no joys, no happiness
Each era's tomb I must decree
Were times of pain as I can see
From sun up to sun down and then
I watch the violence begin again.

when i was 24 i worked this retail job, mostly warehouse. i was a couple of years out of a relationship, which went horribly unwell, that began when i was 15. i had just moved into a room of my own, wasnt going to school, wasnt worried about a career or whatever that means. i was just working, over 40 hours a week. i can remember feeling emotions. they were strange and crazy...significant? i havent thought back on what was different, what i could do now to recreate whatever awakening that was i had. it lasted almost 2 years.

people, they head 'out' into the world to learn and grow and experience all of these different things, you know? and everybody always wants to know what you're going to be. i think the happiest time i ever had was when i was unabashedly just where i was and just who i was and just when i was. god i miss that...

There was a man back in '95
Whose heart ran out of summers
But before he died, I asked him
Wait, what's the sense in life
Come over me, Come over me
He said,
Son why you got to sing that tune
Catch a Dylan song or some eclipse of the moon
Let an angel swing and make you swoon
Then you will see... You will see
Then he said,
Here's a riddle for you
Find the Answer
There's a reason for the world
You and I...

I'd have to say every year since 16 was utterly terrible, except for possibly parts of 19-20 were brighter but turned dark. The only year after 4th grade that was good was 7th grade, then someone started a rumor about me at the end of the year. From 5th grade on, I've had the legal system involved in my life (that totals to about my half my life,) starting with truancy, 7th grade was the only year without it, and I was fairly popular and well liked in 7th grade, too.

I'd have to say every year after has just sucked horribly.

I once talked to 90 year old man, he said the easiest years of your life are middle age, hardest is 20s...

So I will leave you with... it only gets worse. I was so sad my 21st birthday, as my life turned out so terribly. I cried on it actually.

Never to be honest with you.

I find it impossible to be happy. Confidence is quickly undone by the first odd situation I get into. I'm too analytical to be carefree. 8O
