I read that NT's do this when they are bored of what you're talking about. I knew this, but when I read that, I realize that I do this all the time even when I'm not bored or uninterested. Does this make NT's think that I am bored or uninterested even when I'm not?

What are some alternatives and ways to stop?

I usually do this too so that the conversation can keep going. I didn't think anything of it.

I don`t think it is a bad thing or a sign of getting bored, but rather an acknowledgment of one's statement. I was taught to say "okay" whenever someone says something to me, to let them know that I received the information.

To make it sound that you are interested in something, I learned that NTs, say things like, definitely, I agree, interesting, awesome, excellent, etc.

I say these things a lot because I don't know what to say and I don't want them to think I am ignoring them. It can also be because I am truly bored with what they are talking about and I have nothing to say and it's hard to listen what they are saying. If it's online, I have a hard time comprehending what I am reading and have a a harder time processing it. I do want to listen to what others want to talk about but it's hard if it's not my interest nor something I care about. Talk about narrow interests. But hey everyone is like this right since people do go 'oh' and 'uh huh' if they are bored with the topic right? Same as if they don't know what to say nor have anything to add. But how do you tell the difference?

I agree with Raptor's opinion.

I find that when someone is not interested in your conversation but chooses to be polite will say, "Oh...okay." I personally don't like it when one does that because it makes that comment. At the same time you are not going to get everyone's interests plain and simple.

I use words like that to acknowledge that I am listening to the person, but I never really viewed them as expressing my boredom with their words. I just wanted them to know that I am still engaged.
