Joined a bible study group

Has anyone here joined a college bible study group before? Its just a group of mostly students at my university. They are very friendly and I have gotten to know most of them. Though their name does suggest a cult looking for organs. Gives me plenty of opportunities to socialize. Though it is mostly the same twenty people. I think I will get to know them and their message better.

And I'm mostly there to socialize and be religious and sing too much and listen to a few nice sermons and study the bible. Not to over think anything about any of the girls there. Get to know a few people and make friends.

It help me a lot.

Okay seriously, someone at a book store here tried to get an open 'sprituality' discussion group going. It was short lived with inconsistent attendence, but I did enjoy those few meetings.

I will say one guy showed up who was a Christian Ex-Convict with a cocaine addiction and a missing thumb. I'm just saying these types of meetups can attract people with interesting emotional baggage.

I was part of a college Bible study at college and at church for my entire time at college and grad school. I did not find people like videodrome described at the college Bible studies. I did find people;e with rather diverse backgrounds at the inner city program that I helped teach at.

My school had an active Bible study put on by the BSM (Baptist Student Ministry) and most of us were not Baptist and it was fine. It was a time to sing a bit, have close studies or a passage or listen to a sermon or lesson depending on the week. I got to socialize with several people and even hang out with some outside of Bible study.
