Well not just by looking at them. I thought I was the only Aspie I knew, but a teacher told me that another student I've worked with in Drama has it. They refuse to tell me exactly who based on confidentiality  I always thought I understood Asperger's well enough that I would recognize it in someone if I knew them a while. Is it because my social skills are still underdeveloped so that I cant even recognize the attributes of Asperger's in someone else? :?:

While you may be able to recognize a few Aspie-like behavior patterns, only an appropriately-trained and licensed mental-health
professional can make a valid diagnosis of an ASD - the more experienced the professional, the more accurate the diagnosis.

Aspies come in all different flavors. People generally will never guess I have AS. There are some aspies who are really obvious, and I can tell (or at least suspect, and I have been right when I later find out more about them). So there are aspies you can tell and those you cannot.

actually I used to be able to do that. I could know someone in an hour and tell if they had Autism/Aspergers and most of the time I was right.

This one kid the first day I met him, I suspected he had HFA and I didn't find out a year later until he was shown on the news and it mentioned his autism.

I think i'm pretty good at identifying who has Aspergers or not, at least I used to be. I'm not sure about now.

I suppose that person is there in the Drama class for exactly the same reason as you are, which is to pretend to act normal.
