Is this social anxiety?
Since waking up from my overdose and for a short time prior to it my social competence has been slowly falling apart. I'm noticing that I'm having more difficulties than usual and I'm not as confident as I was between the ages of 15 and 18.
I've noticed a physical symptom that I didn't have before. It's mild but it's noticeable. I get dizzy. I was in the main lobby of the Rose Theatre here in Brampton waiting to see a Beatles Tribute band. It was a bit of a crowd situation but I've been in worse. I had noticeably impaired perception of where I was positioned in the room. I was also slightly dizzy. It was nothing major but I may have looked a little bit awkward navigating through the room when my proprioception was thrown off.
I don't think it's a sensory issue because I haven't had those since I was 11 or younger. I can't remember when it stopped but even when I had issues they were tactile and involved food textures. I've never had a problem with noise. I think it was a physical symptom of anxiety.
I've noticed this recently. That was just one of 3 examples I've noticed. It's nothing major it's just a bit uncomfortable. It went away during the show so I think I was just getting anxious for some reason. Maybe my decline in social ability that has been making me feel less confident is also making me more anxious in social situations. I'm not sure though.
It sounds to me as though you definitely have social anxiety. From what I've read, some people with social anxiety suffer from chronic dizziness, particularly in public places.
I suffer from social anxiety too, but not to such a severe extent. I can't really give you any advice when it comes to seeking a solution ... sorry.
Yup, that happens to me too. It's usually the 3rd stage though.. first I start to feel like i'm uncontrollably shivering, then after awhile it might become really hard to breathe especially if having to talk, and the 3rd stage is being completely overwhelmed, can't control myself anymore, feeling dizzy and sometimes passing out.
