So I want some advice. Even at 24 years of age, I still struggle communicating with people, pretty badly. I usually come off callous, or the B word or I jump the conversation around to much, or I put people on the spot or make them uncomfortable. Even though none of those are my intentions. I know way to many neurotypical people, and I'm just struggling to keep my head above water, not let my mouth get me into trouble, and Oh I don't know actually hold long term friendships. Any Advice or suggestions?

At least you can recognise your mistakes in communication, the next time a similar situation occurs you're less likely to repeat the same mistake. So practice definitely helps here. Another tip is to get someone you trust or a professional to discuss scenarios and the best way to react in those cases.

I've never met any other aspies, so I've had to learn how to talk to NT's by myself (with mixed results).
For the most part just mind your manners and, if you can, think a little about what you say before you say it. :?
Although I personally think it's kinda funny when you're having a conversation with an NT and wind up confusing them beyond all reason.

I find that I can communicate far better than most through writing. I never really realized it until recently, from reading how other people frequently write. The converse though, is that I am not anywhere near as good at communicating in person, and many of those same people who are unable to communicate through writing are leaps and bounds ahead of me in interpersonal communication. Not to say I'm terrible, I usually get my point across, but I could use a bit of work!

I do have a habit in both scenarios though, of having my point get misconstrued into something it isn't. It really frustrates me when this happens, and it usually happens when people try to read in between the lines of what I say, rather than pay attention to the things I'm actually saying.

well thanks for both your input. I appreciate it. I'm not to bad sometimes, but I know I do confuse the hell out of people sometimes!! I like to jump from subject to subject a lot and then go back lol. I don't really notice I do it, but apparently lol.
