I'm a first time contact lenses wearer, so I went to the store, and a heavy built man was showing me how to put them in. I've never be able to follow oral directions very well, and I didn't manage to put them on myself. I apologized and went on about how my "motor sensory, cognitive functions" etc, etc, don't react the way most peoples do.

The problem is I have a wide variety of facial gestures, movements, etc. that people find odd. I just hate having to explain my behaviour to everyone from family members to store clerks. Casual aquaintances, particularly, don't want to hear about your medical history. If you just act oblivious, people are puzzled, and if you explain it in dry academic terms, people are bored and alienated. It's a lose-lose situation. Any advice?

Ya, try not to lose sleep over it

I think we all spend a bit too long questioning ourselves and critiquing ourselves while we forget that we have a life to live.

If they think its strange or whatever, screw it.
