I'm not talking about this place. Somewhere else.

I am told it is a "social protocol". That when my ban expires I should wait that day, and if I hear nothing, I should ask the admin that banned me if I can post again the next day.

What is the purpose of this? It seems like a waste of time for both me and him. If it was me I'd be like "You know your ban is up and you can post again. What are you asking me for?"

Sounds like just one more reminder of why you got banned and what not to do.

Do you know when your ban expires? Usually when you're banned somewhere you are unable to post/play. Once you're able to post/play again you know you're unbanned.

Who told you that you should ask? I've had a temp ban or two and have never had to ask.

How is that not helpful?

You asked "what is the purpose of this?"

I answered.

Yes. That's why I want to know why I should ask.

A different admin to the one that banned me.

You meant no offence? It came across as hostile to me.

Of course not. I was just making a stating what I think the moderators reasoning might be.

You just post when the ban is over, no need to 'ask' the Admin :/

Unless thats weirdly unique forum culture where yure at.
