Do I trust my instinct? If I think someone's upset then they probably are right? It's not someone I know well enough to ask.

A good tactic for Aspies is to keep track of your gut feelings. If you feel X, do you later learn that your gut was correct or incorrect.

If you find your gut is fairly accurate, you can lean to trust those feelings and delicately follow up on them.

Early on, you don't dare trust them, but over time, you'll learn if you are reading people correctly on an instinctive level.

AS isn't just an inability to process non-verbal communication cues, it can also be an impairment in processing them (e.g., you read people properly, but are unable to process those signals and appropriately respond in real time).
