If anyone wants to meet in Brum, this is a thread to pick a date and venue











NB: I will not be hosting or attending.

Good call Lotusblossom I dont mind hosting whatever that entails. Model Maker might like to take charge however seeing as im new to the area. Im in birmingham until October when uni starts. In terms of a venue The city museum looks ideal given the free entry. Alternatively the black country living museum is a paid admission museum where the exhibit is an industrial era Birmingham town complete with residents and historically accurate architecture.

If your going to the museum, the new library might be worth a look round as my ex's mum says its really interesting.

I would definitely recommend eating in the forecourt above waterstones as it has lots of choice of food but you can sit together to eat it.

Thanks Lotus its worth holding something for any aspies up north I guess. Modelmaker suggested that interest was light on the last birmingham thread he started but still as long as one exists who knows what will happen? There probably should be a thread for UK users to meet and greet to be honest as many members may not actually see these meetup threads. I know that it took me a while to cotton on to the fact that WP held real life events

My ex used to live in coventry and went to quite a few birmingham meet ups and they were all popular and busy so I dont see why it wouldnt go well or why it cant be a regular thing such as the last sat of the month or something. Just give enough notice, like do it for end august or september so people have time to notice it and organize their lives around it. And posting a map or photo of where your meeting is helpful too.

Here's the map well at the moment im trying to drum up the same thing over at AV. Im not sure if that violates rules actually given that its unofficial there and here the only problem should be logistical. I'll include a link to the AV meetup so there's communication between the two groups.

Thats just a list of potential historical places. Its not finished and I still havent included all the natural landmarks like Wyre Forest or Sutton Park. There is actually a Tolkien tour at Sarehole Mill where there are loads of structures and places said to have influenced the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. That looks VERY promising. Hopefully once its finished well have a visual representation of all the available places which and we can home in on the best region in which to meet to give us access to as much as possible.

To be honest we dont really need to venture beyond the city centre as there's so much clustered there anyway. I would however prefer not to spend all day in the city for obvious aspie reasons

So there has been alot of interest over at Aspie Village and the rule is that to attend its best to register there. There should be a Birmingham meetup in September all going well. Think its going to be in the city centre.
