I no longer have social media and it's liberating. (Unless you count Tumblr and AO3 which is just about my special interest.) No Facebook. No Twitter. No Snapchat. No Instagram. Nada. I love it!

These days, I just use Twitter to pour out random thoughts I may have or promote my own music. I couldn't give a damn honestly for anything else online.

I've tried making new Twitters and I end up deleting them. It's too social for me.

I know! Everytime I inbox you you're not on. Then again I don't check mine that often so when I sign on I have about 8 notifications of inboxes. I will be using it more right now while planning the Harry Potter party though. I'm going to be needing input on the people who are coming about who they are going to dress up as. I'm Trelawney. My kids insisted. Not only do I actually do the fortune teller thing for a living (well, extra money for me) but I'm shaped like her and I have lots of shawls and those kind of clothes and I can weird people out with that voodoo stuff lol. But I'm actually good at it, unlike Trelawney. I also have lots of flowing dresses and shawls and jewelry. And some glasses that make my eyes look huge.

As for the OP, I go through times where I'm constantly on FB. I did that with MySpace too. I'm always checking it and then over time it's just a chore so I don't check it for months. You don't have to delete it, just stay away from it for a little while It will still be there and nothing will have changed when you get back, I promise. It never has with mine. You (and I) need to do what I see friends doing when they won't be online much. They just post on their wall that they won't be around on FB for a while so text them if you need them. I never think to do that and people worry. Also, if you disable your account you don't disappear. You stay on your friends lists and you have that empty face profile pic that FB assigns you and it says "disabled". So they know you aren't on there anymore but don't know why. If your settings are private for your page then you could post that you are going to be gone and put your text number there for your friends. That way you find out who actually thinks about you when you don't comment on their threads. Thats what a friend of mind did on there when she was trying to decide who her friends really were before she culled out her friends list. It's a good idea.

I only have a FB account, and I've thought about deleting it, but I do like to keep in touch with a few people on there. I only use it to message people privately though, no public posts or group posts anymore. I deleted all my old FB activity and culled my friends list down to maybe a dozen people. It was a huge relief when I did that.

Honestly, the only social media sites I'm ever active on are Tumblr, Instagram, and Snapchat. I do have an account on Facebook and Twitter, but they're a little too social for me.

I have an Instagram, but I don't know any of the people that run accounts I follow (usually hobby-themed accounts). I also don't post pictures of my own. I've deleted all other social media that I once had. It didn't add anything positive to my life and I think usage of it can become somewhat unhealthy.

Just about everything mentioned here save for Twitter & Tumblr is an IT security laughingstock. All I really care about despite having a Twitter account is Soundcloud, because it's a music host with good audio quality and I have a lot of friends there.

Hi, I'm new (First post) and I didn't really feel like introducing myself in the introductory threads, so I'll just do it here since I would like to give my input.

Anyway, I generally don't use social media in any regards unless it's kik to keep in touch with certain people. I also use MeetMe & Badoo, in hopes of finding some interesting, but also humble people that have an open mind to seeing who I really am.

Other than that, I'm quite complacent not being tied to anything big like Facebook or Google+. I don't really find anything astonishing about those social outlets, as I prefer interacting with people on sites like these. (Though, this could be considered a form of social media, perhaps?)

I have a Facebook account, i created it back in the good ole days of 2008. Of course I don't really use it that much as I am not popular and rarely get any messages from other people. I'm not complaining though, its more of a reason to not use Facebook.

My mom uses it quite frequently and she's popular. She always posts embarrassing pictures of me without my permission and i'm like mom why'd you do that? Not to mention my mom also runs a small company so she is on social media a lot.

No social networks for me. I've never had Facebook or Twitter; I just don't feel the need. I post on exactly two message board type situations, of which WP is one.

To keep in touch with people I want to keep up with, I just use e-mail directly.

I have Facebook. I used to love it and be on it a lot, but I don't spend so much time on it anymore since I've discovered Wrong Planet. It's good for keeping up with clubs I'm in and for keeping in touch with people. I don't see the need for me to use any other social media sites, though.
