Whenever I'm alone on a school bench reading or thinking, theres always these random 11th grade guys and sometimes girls who sit besides me and start talking to me. They're like "Are you ok?" or "what are you reading", so I answer with a simple "Yes" and a no when they ask me if I wanna be friends with them. I ignore them and they go away a few minutes later. Are they really people who care or just random trolls looking to mock weird people?

I used to have similar experiences in high school. 13 years later, it seems like the majority were making a genuine effort to befriend me. Whether or not it would have worked out is an entirely different story, but it now seems benevolent. I would never have believed it at the time, considering how I was being treated by their peers.

I think they might see you alone and feel like maybe you are a shy person who has trouble making friends, or that you might like someone to talk to. I think their intentions are probably good, unless you see a group of people staring at you in the distance and laughing. But believe it are not there are people out there who are genuinely good people and not looking to take advantage of you or humiliate you.

Yeah, keep an eye out for friends nearby.

Their friends might be laughing at or trying to make fun of you.

Sometimes there are good people who truly do want to be friends with you.

Sometimes they might dislike their friends for being so hard on you, or sometimes they might have been set up by their friends.

It really depends.

If they are older/year 11 they might be more mature and see a small, shy kid they just want to talk to..

Yeah I understand that too, but at the same time they might genuinely be decnet people and you should give them a chance.

You'd want them to do the same back...
