theres this girl that I used to "date" online (on facebook). I added her again and she asked If I still like her and I said "Idk, maybe" (I tried to say no indirectly because i dont really want to date people online but I didnt want to make her feel bad). She thinks that Imiss her/ still like her but I dont (the relationship was only on facebook, we haven't actually met each other before) . Do you think that saying "idk, maybe" was the right way to get across that I dont like her?

Well...don't you like her as a person?

I'm thinking: maybe she's HOPEFUL that you like her. If I would have somebody say "idk, maybe" to me, I would get the message.

Just tell her that you're looking for dates--but wouldn't mind being her friend.

You didn't give her a clear answer, so she may be confused. Tell her you like her as a friend, unless you actually don't like her in any way at all, in which case why be friends with her at all?

I find that it's best just to say no, get it over and done with.

Life is far too short to be mucking people around.

Sure, you risk hurting her feelings, but a clean cut will always heal faster, and neater than a deep, long ragged gash.
