How to ask someone to hang out

I met a girl last year at school that I haven't seen in months and I texted her again today. I really want to ask her but don't know what to say. In the past I just asked if they would like to hang out sometime, but then I have trouble designating when "sometime" is. Another one I used often would be asking if they were busy this ___day/weekend. I feel like that puts too much importance on meeting up though. Also this could help to come up with a way, one time she asked if I would come over to her house and smoke with her, so now I could ask her if that offer is still good or something like that. But I think that might be kind of dumb.

Ask her for a coffee/milkshake/scoobiesnack, if the smoke is still on the table it will be revealed to you, if not, then at least you got a milkshake.

I think asking to hang out for something specific works better than "sometime". That way it's more of a direct invitation. Often people will say "oh we should hang out sometime" but don't really mean it or follow through.

You could ask her to watch something with you, or go to do some casual activity. If the time doesn't work for her, offer another time. If she's interested, she will probably try to pick a time that will work out for her. If she's not interested, she'll probably try to reject your offer indirectly by stating that she's "busy" and then not telling you a time she'd be free.

Get some good and ask if the offer is still on the table. It goes without saying to bring the good and offer it first.
