Hi:
I would like to know what you have faced in the church or place of worship.

An elder of the church started a rumor that I am mentally ill. Then he claimed that he never said anything of the kind until I produced witnesses. Then he claimed that I deserved to be lied about because I had offended others in the church until he failed to produce those people whom I had allegedly offended. Then he claimed that he had only been joking.

Ironically, he has since developed epilepsy, which tends to cause damage to the brain if left untreated ...

I grew up in the church so I got plenty of stories of people being really slimy in the church. Because I was a kid most of the sliminess occurred among the adult population, and much of it was race related because my family was one of very few black families in the church(if I remember correctly one of 2). There were certain exclusions and that that went down also as a result. Like how my brother and I were left out of certain things constantly.

One time they had a dedication thing where you pledge to remain pure until your married and I was the only one not invited. Of course while that was a thing all those girls ended up going by the waist side. One girl got hooked on drugs and the other one became a sex addict. Obviously the complete opposite of preserving your purity and another one got knocked up and her parents were so pissed they kicked her out of the house.

Like I said I got endless material and could literally go on but I don't feel like writing a novel xD

Me and Ma would always sit in the same section and would be surrounded by pretty much the same people every Sunday. Me and Ma knew we were in for it whenever this older lady would sit in front of us. During the entire mass she would fart continuously and act like it wasn't her. We needed freaking gas masks by the time the service was over. 8O

Someone flipped me off in the parking lot after church. That's Catholics for ya.

I had a few different churches

1. I attended a mega church where some extended family members attended when I moved three miles from them for a while. Unfortunately they had no interest in me due to believing the stigmas of autism so mainly pretended not to know me.
- I had also struggled to live on my own along with dealing with two roommates who didn't and refused to understand my situation and were frustrated to the point of scaring me away. Well the church had a youth center with a tv so I spent lots of time there thanks to feeling unwelcome at home. I also happened to eat food that was used for church purposes along with some other inappropriate actions. Little did I know that the leadership had been taking notes behind my back while playing "Christian" to my face.
-They also refused to help my extended family and I work things out. Rather they tried to pawn me off on the state and have me out of their hair.

2. A second congregation I went to had a singles group which I joined and liked next to get involved. This include a small group setting called a "Care Group."
- No one ever took any interest in calling me or getting together me but seemed to do so with everyone else.
- I was going to get baptized and one of the leaders of the singles group flaked out twice when agreeing to meet with me in terms of my testimony
- The worst scenario was at the care group when a girl who was suddenly interested in giving me a ride came forward. Little did I know that the only reason she was picking me up was just so that she could see the leader yell at me for breaking a confidence. After that she didn't want to take me home but had no choice when a family member, who I was living with at the time forced the issue. This lady was not nice to my family member on the phone either.
-After that, I noticed a wave of coldness from the entire group.

The bible says to rebuke someone to their face and forgive if they are sorry. That's new testament too.

@Slenkar- They ended up telling me that I could not set foot on their property unless I attended two events during the week of my choice. As for my extended family members, they had high social standing. They got mad when I kept bringing it up to others at that congregation that I was their family. My situation also greatly embarrassed them.

Anyway some other scenarios-

I had attempted to join a weekly event for twenty something at another mega church years ago which I seemed to enjoy. I liked it so much that I tried going to a "Newcomers" meet up. On the way there my family member, who I lived with, dropped me off. She told me to find out who lived by our area so I could get a ride home. So I did what they instructed right? A few said they did live in that area but when it came to asking for a ride I got lies.

-"Gee my car is in the shop," but I saw them getting into their car to drive away
-Others said their car was too full.
-The leader plain flat out lied to me by saying "Can you call your family member? We are going to be here for a while playing and air hockey." I know it was a lie because they took off when everyone else did by leaving me stranded. I never went back.

thats hilarious ! !!

In my childhood this one church I went to this lady who was friends with my mom and my mom had brought her to church tried to say that me and my brother were acting up in sunday school. Then she said that mom wrote a letter to the church about a family who was receiving money from the church to pay for their kids collage or something. Of course I was too young to catch on to all this when I was that age but I overheard my mom telling the story to her aunt the other day.

I went to the bathroom and talked to my family member at the same time and when I came back out the leader goes "Are you okay?"

I said "Yeah, I just needed to use the bathroom."

He left right after that.

I went to a couple Catholic schools & in 6th grade a couple of my classmates told the teacher I was playing with my penis during church when I certainly was not. I was bullied a lot in that school. I didn't have problems in my Catholic high-school thou.

My mother worked at a daycare for a snobbish church that also had a day program between the ages of 11-14. They did several weird things to my family and I.

1. I wasn't allowed to attend the day school because they didn't have services for people with disabilities but they let others in with who were self advocates
2. My sister wanted to bring our family dog to school there for show and tell and they us a hard time about that
-By having a mother call us who was allergic to dog and didn't want any dog hair on her son
-The principal told us that students were not allowed to bring their pets to school due to sanitary reasons. Yet everyone else could bring their pets to school with no problem.
3. Whenever my sister called anyone a name or misbehaved she got into trouble but they let others slide all the time.\
4. The Youth Director was greeting people one time at a holiday play and when He saw he, he walked off.

That is awful and I don't think it was her fault that her husband made that choice.
